Web-Based Food Ordering Solution for Restaurants and Pop-Up Vendors

Project Overview

This project involved developing a responsive web app designed to facilitate food ordering from restaurants and pop-up shops, focusing on pickup orders rather than delivery. We opted for a responsive web app to decrease the friction of users having to install an app, ensuring a seamless ordering experience on any device. The app supports both cash and card payment options, and vendors can generate QR codes for their menus, allowing customers to easily view and order from them.

My Role

Associate Project Manager | Quality Assurance

Defined project roles, scope, responsibilities, and milestones, developed project plans to align with client goals, and managed Agile processes including daily scrums, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and demos. I administered risk management, tracked deliverables, and prepared progress reports. I also consulted with cross-functional teams—designers, engineers, and stakeholders—to execute projects and ensure high-quality outcomes.

Target Customers

  • The app was designed for restaurants and pop-up shop vendors, and foodies, offering an efficient food ordering system for both everyday users and large event audiences.

Outcome

  • Delivered the MVP and phase 2 with enhanced features.

  • Successfully utilized during a major concert event for pop-up shops.

Lesson Learned

  • Developing scheduling features for pop-up shops required deeper research, particularly for real-time inventory tracking and event coordination. To address this, I asked clarifying questions about operations and prioritized the scheduling preferences for the concert event we were launching.

  • Balancing flexibility and usability was crucial for managing high-traffic situations without compromising functionality. I coordinated with the development team to implement load testing. We are planning to implement additional optimizations in the next phase to ensure the app performs well under peak usage.
